We will have an operating position at the entrance to each hospital. At the
old hospital we will use a ID-800 and portable tripod antenna to get on
Sam's repeater (U-1) to communicate with the new hospital receiving team.
At the new hospital we will be setting up a mast in the yard (Dave Johnson)
with a radio on MEDCOM 8 to communicate with the ambulances that are in
route. A rep. from Life Amb. Will operate the MEDCOM 8 radio to the
ambulances. Both MEDCOM and RACES stations will be just inside the New
Hospital at the reception desk on the left. Beside the MEDCOM station will
be a RACES operating station that will also be on U-1 to communicate with
the "launching" lobby at the old hospital and communicate on a HT to 6 teams
of nurses in the new hospital that are receiving teams for each incoming
patient.
NOTE: at 6am in the old hospital 40 Nextel radio's will be handed out in
the conference room by the cafeteria to the metro staff for co-ordinations.
The 6 HT units will either be from Metro Security or commercial units
borrowed for the event.
RADIO LOGS. I would like a radio log kept at both entrance operation
positions with as much time entry data as possible. I will be in the
meeting at the start and try to clarify team tactical call information as
much as possible to head off as much confusion as possible but if will take
lots of effort on all our parts. Please be patient with these folks, they
are excellent medical people but not trained communicators.
EQUIPMENT: Jeff will help deliver equipment to folks on Saturday Evening.
NEW METRO: Sat PM Bob Sacha and Dave Johnson set up mast and antenna for
MEDCOM at new Hospital and do a UHF test on it.
Sunday at 6am Bob Sacha and Dave will set up at New Metro in the Lobby with
ID-800 and MEDCOM .
Sunday 10 AM Ron Lindbloom will relieve Bob Sacha at New Metro
OLD METRO: Bob Dennis will go to conference rally at 6 am. (if no UHF
commercial HT's I will grab 6 from my office which is only 6 blocks away and
run them to new METRO for receiving teams)
Gerben will set up ID 800 and tri-pod on U-1 in the Chapel next to the main
entrance facing Boston St. (South Side of Hospital) if possible we will get
more help for him at that position from the RACES pool... I put out an
e-mail tonight.
Kevin Walk from Life Ambulance Communications will also be at that position
with a small Life HT on Life frequency and MEDCOM 8.
NOTE: Life Ambulance and AMR will follow standard emergency protocol if a
patient becomes a medical problem in route. They will leave our net.
Please log the exact time that it happens, if it does.
NOTE NOTE: Metro has planned this for a year and has many details worked
out. Patients will have their records and room assignment with them before
the are launched. Each patient will have a nurse with them that will stay
with them on the new unit once they arrive. We did a practice drill two
weeks ago to determine how many ambulances it would take to do it in 8 hrs.
CONCERNS:
1. We will put a bull horn at the lobby of the new Metro for the large
lobby area to announce arrivals if necessary. There will be 6 teams with
numerous members that may get scattered out in the lounge area, rest rooms
and coffee shop down the hall. Only one team member will have an HT. We
may need to rally the receiving team should they get dispersed.
2. They are counting on Nextel (40 units) that scares me ... they are
not on group call ...just individual call and they all have a roster inside
each phone
3. IF Sam's repeater goes down will use Dave Johnson's Cross band
repeat to 511 at New Metro and my Jeep Cross band to 511 at Old Metro.
UNIFORM OF THE DAY: Will be RACES Gray Shirt and Black BDU pants... RACES ID
I will check on food and send out another e-mail....don't know at this time.
Thank You to all who are helping, Bro. Bob Cell (616) 813-9003
